Lunar Reflection Transmission Technique

Lunar Reflection Transmission Technique

by Taro Shinoda and Uriel Barthélémi

Presented by McCahon House Trust and Webb's as part of Auckland Art Fair 2018, 23 + 24 MAY

Projected on a giant screen, Taro Shinoda's film captures the sublime contrast between the colossal form of the moon and us - the small indicators of life on Earth. A work by esteemed Japanese artist Taro Shinoda was developed over a ten year period, capturing the full moon from the perspective of twelve of the world’s most iconic cities with Auckland’s supermoon of December 2017 being the last moon in the cycle with live musical accompaniment.

For  the  8PM  screenings, Shinoda is joined for a live performance by drummer and electro-acoustic musician Uriel Barthélémi (France). Barthélémi’s pounding drums and syncopated rhythms truly optimise the experience, making it reverberate for family audiences, budding astronomers and lovers of visual art.
