Cancelled: Summer at Q 2022

With the move to COVID-19 Protection Framework – Red and the current outbreak of Omicron, we’ve had to reassess how Q will deliver shows this Summer.

Although we have the systems in place so that events can go ahead under Red, reduced capacities mean it’s not viable for the vast majority of shows involved in our February programme. Therefore we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel our Summer at Q festival. There may, however, be a small handful of events that can go ahead outside the umbrella of the festival.

We’re gutted to have to make these decisions, as Summer at Q is a great opportunity to support the emerging and independent artists of Tāmaki, and it is not lost on us that they are the ones that are going to be the most affected by this wave. However, as a venue, we want to do everything we can to continue to support those who work in live events, and we know that sometimes that’s going to mean steaming ahead, and sometimes it will mean cancelling.

We want to take this opportunity to thank University of Auckland, the sole sponsor of the Summer at Q festival, who have been incredibly kind and understanding throughout this process. Their support helps us offer packaged rates that make our venues more accessible and simpler to budget for during our Summer at Q season, helping to support the kaupapa of developing independent artists in Auckland.

If you had tickets to any affected shows during Summer at Q, you should have been contacted directly with the opportunity for a refund, a reschedule or the opportunity to divert your ticket price to the artistic team behind each show.
