Nice to Meet Q // Suzette Conradie
You know what makes Q, Q? The eclectic creatives that run the building. Everyone who gets stuff done at Q - whether it be selling you tickets, making you that much needed coffee, cooking you up a feast, showing you to your seat or rigging the lighting that helps take the show to a whole other level - all of these folks are amazing pros and artists. So take a moment to get to know our team!
Introducing Suzette...
What do you do at Q?
I work as an usher in the FOH team
Tell us something not many people know about you…
I can play piano.
What’s the best show you’ve seen at Q?
Silo Theatre's The Book of Everything and Taki Rua's Pūtōrino Hill
If you were a drink, what kind of drink would you be and why?
I think I would be an Old Fashioned, because its a bit like me, but with a twist
What’s your getting to work jam?
Anything by The Libertines at the moment.
What do you do when you are not at Q?
I am a jeweller and I work part time in a gallery. I make contemporary jewellery. It is a practice I fall in love with everyday, you get to learn a lot about people and the objects they hold dearly.
At the moment I am working on a new commercial jewellery project that will be launched with a website and social media, soo keep an eye out! I sell my work through Masterworks Gallery and work on commissions, so if you need/want anything let me know! (Just email me at suzette.conradie@gmail.com)
What inspires you in your craft?
I am inspired by urban architecture, and the materials I work with. I often work with unusual materials and I let the materials lead the conversation in a piece.
I just finished a piece today, actually. It's a forged, sterling silver chain for group chain show at Masterworks Gallery in December.
Suzette loves Q and people who love Q. So she is offering up the chance for Q fans to WIN a pair of sterling silver stacker rings valued at $100.
To go in the draw simply send Suzette an email with your contact details and tell her about a favourite piece of jewellery that you own. Entries close Friday 20 November, 5pm.
