DJ Murray Cammick’s Frank Sinatra special.

NZ music icon Murray Cammick features in Q Mixtape for the first time this Halloween. A record label founder, radio host, and founder/ editor of the legendary Rip it Up magazine, Cammick is also a collector and DJ of rare and vintage soul and jazz music.

Cammick’s Halloween appearance at Q Mixtape coincides with the opening night of Auckland Theatre Company's Guys & Dolls at Q, so Murray has assembled a special Frank Sinatra playlist, (Ol’ Blue Eyes was in the original movie of G&D).

What is Q Mixtape?

Located in the beating hub of the arts precinct, Q brings you a mixtape of free live gigs in our Lounge bar with a generous helping of cult musicians and DJ’s to enjoy every Saturday night.

“The spirit of Mixtape is really one of eclecticism. This is a city where you can hear adventurous jazz, literate songwriting, ultra-rare reggae 45‘s, and off-the-wall mutant surf versions of klezmer music. Real music fans are open-minded and cosmopolitan - and Mixtape is a space for them.” (Tom Rodwell, Mixtape curator and calypso-blues guitarist)

Gather your mates, order a drink and enjoy Q’s mixtape of intimate and rare performances by some of NZ’s most exciting contemporary musicians and songwriters. From fresh renditions of beloved vintage classics, sweet indie-folk to soulful jazz and acoustic pop, you’re in for something refreshing and unique every time.
