Top Town
The year is 1989, community netball coach and founding member of T.O.S.S. (Twizel Operatic Singers Scociety), Grunta Thompson, wants to put Twizel on the map. The ‘town that wasn’t built to last’ is going to prove it’s worth on national television as they compete against Geraldine, Whangarei and Whanganui in the famous Top Town competition. But just as every kiwi athlete knows - the road to victory is lined with potholes, errant sheep and the occasional cheating bastard from Geraldine… and success never comes without cost. Can Grunta pull together a team tenacious enough to take out the Top Town title?
Dynamotion’s new show is a love letter to 1980’s New Zealand. Chock-a-block with bangin’ tunes, too many toned calf muscles and definitely a power ballad or two… Top Town will kick the Silly Season off with style and all the “infectious pleasure” you’ve come to know and love from the Dynamotion gang. Tom Sainsbury and Lara Liew lead another incredible cast in one of the most joy-filled hours of theatre you can experience in Auckland.
Also starring: Chris Parker, Harry McNaughton, Ravi Gurunathan, Roberto Nascimento, Zak Enayat, Cat Fawcett-Cornes, Karamia Muller and welcoming back original Dynamotion founder, Jennie Robertson.
