For one night only, New Zealander Ross McCormack, from Belgium’s Les Ballets C de la B, directs and stars in Triumphs and Other Alternatives, an outstanding new work that collides sculpture with gutsy performance to create a visceral style of Physical Movement Theatre.

The show was ecstatically received at its recent premiere as a powerful exploration of the obsessiveness and joys of the creative process.

Muscle Mouth is a multidisciplinary company that produces live performance and installation art works. Triumphs and Other Alternatives is the company’s second full-length performance work, after AGE, which was commissioned and presented by the 2014 New Zealand Festival.

Catch this highly anticipated work at its Auckland premiere before it travels to Australia.

Choreographer Ross McCormack's Triumphs and Other Alternatives certainly lives up to its name. It is a triumph. ...One can see why he had such a stellar career for 10 years with Les Ballets C de la B. His stage presence is magnetic...The three dancers are a totally unified and focused ensemble.” (Dominion Post, April 2015)

“A low rumble in the background builds to the musical score. McCormack emerges as the “Maker” character - a sculptor, a mad scientist, a perfectionist who manipulates his “Creations” … It is a work of art”.  (Theatreview, April 2015)

“It is profoundly moving and vividly passionate … I gave it a standing ovation and continue to applaud it today”  (Regional News, May 2015)

An Artist Talk will follow the performance.
