Support the Arts - Make a Submission

Auckland Council’s draft Long-term Plan 2024/2034 (10 Year Budget) has been released and your submissions are critical to ensure long-term support of the arts in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Have Your Say

Auckland Council’s draft Long-term Plan (LTP) for 2024/2034 is open for public feedback until 11.59 pm on 28 March.

The draft plan includes a 'Mayor's message' that presents Mayor Brown's perspective on the financial hurdles faced by our city and proposes strategies to fortify the region's long-term financial and infrastructural resilience. Additionally, the plan outlines the Council's stance on financial challenges, strategic pathways, and future direction.

We need your help to support the future of performing arts in Tāmaki Makaurau.

Making a submission is one of the most important ways to have your voice heard. The Council’s online submission form is the quickest way to have your say, and below we have some guides to make this submission process quick and simple. If you're ready to submit your thoughts click here to jump straight to the submission guide.

What is involved in the submission process?

When you follow Auckland Council's Link you will be shown a survey of six main questions, and an opportunity to give feedback on some initiatives from your Local Board. All of the questions have context around them, and only some are specifically relevant to arts, culture, and creative communities in Tāmaki Makaurau. There are a few opportunities to offer feedback in free text form for you to write as little or as much as you’d like.

How much time will this take?

As much time as you have, but as little as two minutes if you only want to concentrate on adding some feedback around arts, culture, and creative community initiatives. To complete the whole survey thoroughly you will probably need around 15 minutes. Follow our Submission Guide to see how you can still support us based on the amount of time you have available.

What if I want to read the whole plan before submitting?

We know how time-poor everyone is and how complicated these processes are so hopefully our context guides below will help you to understand everything you need to without sifting through the nearly 140 pages of the full draft. However if you have the time to do so please feel free to read through the draft here.

Our friends at Te Taumata Toi-a-Iwi informed by kōrero within the arts and culture sector have created this website to help formulate our submissions in a way that will collectively impact what is presented to Local Board Members, Councillors and the Mayor. Our guides above use their content as a basis and includes some additional information and comments to clarify the impact that Q Theatre would feel directly.

We encourage individuals outside the arts and culture sector to adapt the information on this page to suit personal submissions.
