YOUR Q // E-Newsletter - Friday 12 March: Intro by Shona McCullagh

Issue date:

Kia ora,

After a short-lived Festival last year, it’s just brilliant to be able to finally open the Auckland Arts Festival this week, and we’re so proud to present Taki Rua’s production of Sing to Me at level one tonight. During the opening show last night, I was so moved by the dexterous storytelling, full of humour and relevance to any relationship, underpinned with a depth of emotion.

This work is powerfully performed by Rutene Spooner, Emma Katene, and Te Aihe Butler, who also wrote the beautiful original music. Don’t miss this stunning New Zealand theatre, with some of the best songbirds in the Festival! Alongside Sing to Me, we are proud to present two other shows at Q Theatre; Thom Monkton's The Artist and Trick of the Light Theatre's The Griegol opening next week.

I'm so excited for the rest of the Festival finally in full bloom. We hope to see you soon.

Nga mihi,

Shona McCullagh, MNZM, Arts Foundation Laureate
