Reflecting on a hugely successful Comedy Festival 2024!

Laughter is still lingering in the air at Q! The NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo has now wrapped for 2024 and we're stoked to have been involved again in this fabulously funny festival for another year.

Issue date:

Last weekend saw the NZ International Comedy Festival wrap up for another year and what a humdinger of a time it was!

Our venue was buzzing with excitement during May, as we hosted 40+ comedy shows across all four of our theatre spaces: Rangatira, Loft, Vault and Cellar. Throughout the festival, Q became a hub for all the laughs, with a bright yellow Comedy Fest signage takeover, special edition festival beer by Parrotdog, and an enticing Godfrey Hirst lounge space for keen comedy-goers to enjoy in-between shows.

There was a wonderful sense of joy in the air, and the variety and quality of comedy was nothing less than exceptional, both at Q and at our fellow venues. This year's programme featured many seasoned performers, fresh new talent, local and international acts offering a variety of different comedy genres. The diversity of shows had  the crowds in fits of laughter, and also provided unique, comedic perspectives - we couldn't get enough of all the rich, inclusive performances that had Tāmaki Makaurau in stitches.

Comedy Fest 2024 was one of the busiest festivals yet, with a record-breaking number of sold-out shows, a hugely successful time for Citizen Q and our bar, AND the highest percentage of ticket sales in the history of the Comedy Fest. Wowee!

As we reminisce on the success of 2024 and look forward to what's next in 2025, we'd like to acknowledge the Comedy Festival whānau for putting together yet another stellar programme. A big thank you and congratulations to everyone involved in this year's festival, whether on stage, in the audience, or behind the scenes. We can't wait for next year!
