After two years of touring across Aotearoa and all the way to Edinburgh Fringe, Hysterical is coming to Q later this month! We caught up with the creators of this award-winning poetry show to hear more about their work and process. 

Tempo Dance Festival has come to a close for another year! We're taking a moment to reflect on what was an incredibly diverse, exciting programme and the people and audiences who brought it to life. 

Footnote New Zealand Dance have just returned from Japan, premiering their collab work with Japanese choreographer, Kota Yamazaki. The next stop for this captivating show is Q Theatre during Tempo Dance Festival! We spoke with Anita Hunziker (Footnote’s Artistic Director) and Kota to hear more about the work before it hits the Loft stage this weekend.

Alexa Wilson is an incredibly talented creative who is bringing her show IN/TENSE to Q Loft for Tempo Dance Festival – Te Rerenga o Tere 2024. Ahead of the show, Alexa shared some insight with us about IN/TENSE and her creative practice.

We are thrilled to welcome Phil Evans as our new Head of Programming and Production | Te Pane o ngā Papatono me ngā Whakaputanga! Phil officially joined the team last week and we are delighted to have his expertise on board. 

Moss Te Ururangi Patterson is the Artistic Director / Guest Curator for Tempo Dance Festival – Te Rerenga o Tere 2024 and a well-known figure in the Aotearoa dance scene. We had a kōrero with him about Tempo, why he’s excited for the festival, and The New Zealand Dance Company’s upcoming work, RUA. 

From hip-hop to ballet to contemporary to Indigenous, Tāmaki Makaurau will dance like everyone’s watching as the biennial Tempo Dance Festival - Te Rerenga o Tere returns with a full programme of immersive, innovative and exciting dance, running from 10 – 20 October at Q Theatre.

During the last week of June, Rangatira was filled with gorgeous homegrown waiata, kapa haka, dance, and storytelling at Mahuta - A Matariki Showcase. We're taking a moment to reflect on this unique, significant two-night event. 

Badjelly the Witch by Spike Milligan is an iconic children’s story loved by many, adults and tamariki alike. These school holidays, Badjelly is coming to Q to showcase bright, colourful, glow-in-the-dark puppets, courtesy of New Zealand children’s theatre company, The Glow Show! We spoke to Sarah Burren (The Glow Show’s Creative Director/Puppet Creator) to hear more about this exciting performance and the mahi to make it happen.
