TUKU KŌRERO | Tāmaki Talks
Our past. Our place. Our future.
One city. Many voices. Big questions.

Inspired by the energy of TED Talks and M9, Tuku Kōrero | Tāmaki Talks is a truly unforgettable evening of ideas, storytelling, debate and entertainment, bringing together compelling voices to explore the questions that will shape the future of Tāmaki Makaurau.

Who are we? Where have we come from? Where are we heading?

Tāmaki Makaurau has always been a meeting place of peoples, cultures, histories and aspirations. Today, tangata whenua stand alongside tangata Tiriti, taurahere, communities from across Aotearoa and the world who now call this extraordinary city home. But what does it truly mean to belong here?

Tuku Kōrero | Tāmaki Talks will bring together well-known personalities, cultural leaders, political thinkers, creatives, community voices, innovators and rangatahi from across society. Expect courageous conversations, different perspectives and ambitious ideas as our panels confront the opportunities, tensions and possibilities facing Auckland.

What kind of city will we leave our descendants? How will rangatahi shape what comes next? How can understanding the stories of the land help create a city confident in its identity, generous in its relationships and fearless about its future?

Throughout the evening, powerful discussion will be woven with performance and entertainment, feeding the mind, stirring the heart and lifting the soul. This is a signature event of the three-day Poumatua Festival, commemorating the beginnings of modern Auckland. We honour the visionary tuku whenua of Ngāti Whātua rangatira Apihai Te Kawau, an extraordinary act that helped establish the city upon these lands.

We remember where we began, we challenge where we stand and together, we imagine what comes next.

Tuku Kōrero | Tāmaki Talks - big voices, bold ideas, one extraordinary city, nau mai rā.
