Dr. Thomas Stockmann is the medical officer of his small-town’s new eco-spa. An upstanding member of their close-knit community, when Thomas discovers the town’s water has been contaminated, he raises the alarm. But his truth comes at a price, when those in power, including his brother,  try not only to discredit him - but to crush him.

Flyleaf Theatre Company presents An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen, newly adapted by Aaron Richardson. This modern reimagining relocates the story from nineteenth-century Norway to present-day Aotearoa, placing Ibsen’s drama inside our country’s burgeoning water crisis.

Featuring an incredible cast, this new production of Ibsen’s masterwork will have you riveted until its final devastating conclusion.

“In a time of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act” - George Orwell.

'An Enemy of the People' is Flyleaf Theatre Company's second inaugural production of classic texts for contemporary Aotearoa audiences, following with critically acclaimed 'Saint Joan' in 2025:

"A cracker of a production, relevant and interesting, with many contemporary messages" - Theatreview

"Tension and suspense are coiled up like a spring ready to lash, as the director Grace Augustine excels in the pacing." - Red Raven News

"A Martyr for Our Times: Saint Joan Strikes a Contemporary Chord." - Sharu Delilkan & Tim Booth
