In case you missed it, Summer at Q is our annual celebration of independent makers: a space designed to give collective artists, companies and audiences a chance to take artistic risks in theatre, by providing venue, marketing, ticketing and technical support at accessible rates in a festival framework. Throughout the last several years, we have supported works from a massive range of artists, both emerging and established, from experimental, through to kitchen sink dramas.

Every year, we are impressed by the exceptional talent, dedication, and entertaining performances showcased at this festival, and this year was no exception. Whether it was comedy, clowns, drag queens, music, dance, theatre, or play readings, there was something to cater to every taste. It was truly special to witness such a diverse array of works from artists at various stages of their creative journeys.
As in other years, the 2024 Summer at Q festival was able to uplift, celebrate and support independent artists - something that's so important to both Q as a business and to me on a more personal level. This year's programme was such a delightfully diverse collection of shows and I can't wait to see what's next for all of the talented artists involved. - Padma Akula, Q’s Producer | Kaihautū
This year, we were pleased to collaborate once more with Auckland Pride, presenting five Pride Partnered events. These captivating queer productions featured Baby Gorgeous, Redundant, Meet Me at Dawn, Dimensions in Black, and Sirens of the Silver Screen.

And as if that wasn’t enough, we also debuted a brand new podcast festival, PodFest at Q which you can read more about here. Our passion for having captivating works on our stages truly knows no bounds!

A huge shoutout goes to our wonderful Q patrons who wholeheartedly supported the festival by attending shows, spending time in Q Lounge, engaging with the artists, enjoying kai at Citizen Q, and simply being amazing advocates of live arts. Your invaluable support is crucial for the success of festivals that uplift local artists, and we extend a heartfelt ngā mihi from all of us at Q. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
