11 - 12 October 2025

This October, join us in the festive spirit of Diwali right here in the city on Saturday 11 October (6:00 PM) and Sunday 12 October (4:30 PM). Enjoy 75 minutes of Bhavai alongside other entertainment — food, colour, and joy — making it the perfect Diwali celebration. Spend your whole day in the city before and after the show, soaking in the festival atmosphere, then settle in for a full-pack, non-stop laugh riot that promises an unforgettable lifetime experience — something you’ve never done before.

Ranggheli: The Bhavai Saga brings the fearless wit and electric energy of Bhavai — a 700-year-old folk theatre tradition from Gujarat — to Q Theatre’s Loft stage for two nights only.

Rooted in satire and driven by music, dance, and colourful characters, Bhavai blurs the line between sacred and scandalous, breaking the fourth wall and inviting the audience into the story. This high-energy production follows the form’s tradition of humour, improvisation, and community connection, while exploring untold tales that resonate with contemporary life.

Created, directed, and performed by Hellaro fame Shailesh Prajapati — a producer/director with a passion for Gujarati arts — this season aligns perfectly with Auckland’s Diwali festivities, ensuring a celebratory atmosphere and strong audience turnout.

Performed in Gujarati with minimal English, the work transcends language barriers through physicality, live music, and universal humour — making it an
unforgettable experience for both Gujarati-speaking audiences and newcomers to the form.
