Auckland Pride Gala

Following a sell out show in 2020, the Pride Gala returns for more queer splendour; returning to Q’s Rangatira to bring you an incredible lineup of Tāmaki's queer talent hosted by Queer Icons Chlöe Swarbrick and Ms Lady B!

Thu 04 February
Thu 4 Feb, 8pm - 10pm

With direction from award-winning theatre artist Freya Finch, the Auckland Pride Gala will bring our community together for a much needed night of queer excellence. 2020's Gala was said to be “Reputably, the best Pride Gala opening ever.” We can't wait to do it all over again!

The 2021 Gala is bringing back the incredible 2020 headliners House of COVEN-Carangi. As well as introducing new headliner House of Iman.

Our unforgettable lineup includes jaw dropping circus skills from Carnies and Queers, unbelievably tight choreography from Night of the Queer, side-splitting comedy from Janaye Henry, critically acclaimed playwright Victor Roger, an extract of the campest intergalactic musical comedy Gays In Space, amazing performers Drag King Jack & Michelle Kasey from Code Switch, and incredible spoken word from Daniel Goodwin & Rose Northey!

More than just a taste of what's to come in the programme, The Gala is packed with the best live art in town; there'll be burlesque, vogue, song, dance, spoken word and perhaps even a dash of everyone's favourite queer clowns.

Following the show, join Pride in Q's Lounge to keep the party going in the centre of the city, DJ Zeki will be on the decks and we'll keep the Lindauer flowing.

"If you want to judge a show based on the reaction of its audience, then the 2020 Pride Gala was an unmitigated success. Many of them screamed, yes screamed, their way through the night. And what a night it was." - Andrew Whiteside

The 2021 Gala is presented by Auckland Pride, made possible through generous support from friends of Auckland Pride across Aotearoa. The auction of artwork by Jack Trolove, Reuben Patterson, Gretchen Albrecht, and Imogen Taylor will make the 2021 Gala better than ever.
