Growing a foundation of solid musicianship skills enables any choirs to work more efficiently and results in a higher level of performance. Participants will learn how to find these key musical building blocks within their choral repertoire, as well as how to develop the ability to ‘think in sound’ through fun, engaging and educational exercises, empowering singers to understand the foundations on which all music is built. Choral music from South-East Asia will be incorporated into the presentation.

Susanna Saw is an active music educator promoting music and choral education in Malaysia. A lecturer and choir director at the Faculty of Music at the University of Malaysia and the Malaysian Institute of Art, she established the Young Choral Academy in Kuala Lumpur in 2007. Regularly invited to be a juror for various international choir festivals, Susanna is currently Vice-President of the International Kodaly Society, the World Youth and Children Choral Artists’ Association, and the Malaysian Association for Music Education.
